Domingo Returns to ‘SNL’ as Sabrina Carpenter Parodies Taylor Swift’s ‘The Fate of Ophelia’: Watch

Domingo is back!

During the cold open of Saturday Night Live‘s Oct. 18 episode, Marcello Hernandez reprised his recurring role as Domingo in a musical skit alongside host and musical guest Sabrina Carpenter.

In the six-minute sketch, titled “Domingo Cold Open,” Chloe Fineman’s character Kelsey throws a birthday party for her husband Matthew (played by Andrew Dismukes). To celebrate, she enlists her girl squad to perform a surprise musical number, complete with modern pop parodies, about a recent Nashville trip to buy his gift.

Things quickly unravel when Kelsey’s friends — played by Carpenter, Sarah Sherman, Ashley Padilla and Veronika Slowikowska — launch into parodies of Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” and Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra,” revealing that Kelsey spent a night with Domingo during the trip.

Hernandez’s Domingo then makes a dramatic entrance to profess his love for Kelsey, set to Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks earlier this summer.

Domingo debuted in an October 2024 episode hosted by Ariana Grande, where Carpenter’s hit “Espresso” was featured in a sketch revealing that Kelsey had cheated on her fiancé with the character. He returned in a sequel featuring Charli XCX parodying Chappell Roan’s “Hot to Go!” and again during SNL50, with Carpenter spoofing “Defying Gravity” from Wicked.

Carpenter appeared throughout Saturday’s episode in multiple sketches and also performed two songs from her Man’s Best Friend album: “Manchild” and “Nobody’s Son.”

SNL will take a brief hiatus and return Nov. 1 with host Miles Teller and musical guest Brandi Carlile. Upcoming episodes include Nikki Glaser with Sombr on Nov. 8, and Glen Powell hosting for the first time on Nov. 15, joined by musical guest Olivia Dean.
