Doja Cat clashes with ‘Fortnite’ over sex toy joke

Doja Cat has clashed with Fortnite over a sex toy joke as her long-awaited collab goes live.

Doja Cat has entered the world of Fortnite as the headline event of the spooky, Halloween-themed ‘Fortnitemares 2025’ update.

“Fear gets a new face. Meet the Mother of Thorns, Doja Cat, who’s twisting Battle Royale into her haunted kingdom and unleashing chaos with a wild cast of characters. From Jason to Wednesday Addams to Scooby-Doo and Ghost Face, VIPs of fright await,” reads the official announcement, with a number of new themed skins, weapons and in-game rewards added to the battle royale.

To kickstart the event, Doja Cat was announced to be taking over the official Fortnite X account. “Don’t talk to me about Chains Of Hades,” reads one tweet, poking fun at Doja Cat’s previous brutal criticism of the weapon. However, shortly after the takeover went live, the official Fortnite account posted “Mother of rose toys” while claiming to be Doja and the star took offence because Rose Toy is a type of vibrator.

“I told them not to. Man, that’s not even me. I said this yesterday and then said ‘Don’t post that’,” she replied from her own X account. “Lord someone knock on the cubicle at Fortnite headquarters. Right now they’re tweeting about sex toys [and] acting like I’m tweeting that shit,” she added. One fan accused her of lying, but she replied saying she’d never write that “to a bunch of kids”.

Shortly after the exchange, the original tweet and all of Doja’s replies were deleted but fans have captured screenshots of the exchange.

Seemingly all has been forgiven now though with Doja recently posting on X that she’s going to spend all day playing her Fortnite crossover. “It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

‘Fortnitemares 2025’ will be live until November 1 while Fortnite Festival will get two new tracks (‘AAAHH MEN!’ and ‘Gorgeous’) from Doja Cat’s recent album ‘Vie’ as part of the collab. Doja Cat performed both tracks on Saturday Night Live recently and has also announced a 2026 world tour.

Meanwhile, Fortnite fans have praised the “absolutely incredible” Daft Punk experience that recently launched in the game but developers have had a nightmare with a “nazi” Peacemaker emote that was released alongside the second season of the hit DC show.

In other news, Baldur’s Gate 3 boss Michael Douse has hit out at Elon Musk’s plan for “great” AI-generated games to be possible by the end of next year.
