Out Nov. 7, the record will feature the previously released singles “Marigolds” and “How to Live”
Del Water Gap‘s search for understanding is underway as he prepares for the release of his third studio album, Chasing the Chimera. Out Nov. 7, the record will find the musician looking inward for answers to questions about morality, validation, and self-perception.
“This is where I’ve been the last year & it’s been healing my cynical heart, and I hope you’ll find a place for these songs,” Del Water Gap shared on Instagram. The album marks his first since 2023’s I Miss You Arleady + I Haven’t Left Yet. The singer-songwriter set the stage for Chasing the Chimera with the previously released singles “How to Live” and “Marigolds,” which arrived last week.
“This song is about regret & apology as an obsessional mantra,” he said. “I wrote this right after the LA fires — a night I had with someone I was very close with — hiding out together- we got stoned and made dinner & started talking about the absurdity of getting older & you could see the hills burning in the distance from doorway off the kitchen —— the dissonance between the world inside and the chaos out there. Nostalgic hangover — everything feels too late and too early all at once.”

Chasing the Chimera was co-produced with Gabe Goodman, who previously appeared on Del Water Gap’s self-titled debut album, released in 2021, and Jonathan Wilson. “There was a moment when I realized being a great collaborator — and I think the same is true of being a good friend, or being a good partner — can be about the empty space that you leave, stepping out of the way for someone to let them come down and arrive in their own time,” the musician previously told Rolling Stone.
