The band’s move to ANTI- (Fleet Foxes, MJ Lenderman, Waxahatchee) sees them return to their independent roots, which date back to their 1997 formation and continued with their first four releases on Barsuk Records.
Speaking about the signing in a new press release, vocalist Ben Gibbard said: “We are thrilled to be joining the roster at ANTI- which includes some of our favourite artists, old friends and in many cases, both.
“We also can’t wait to begin this new chapter with the wonderful staff at ANTI- and share with you what we’ve been working on.”
Alongside the announcement, Death Cab for Cutie have also shared that they are set to embark on a North American summer tour, which starts with an appearance at Denver’s Outside Days Festival, before their headline shows kick off with a stop in Minneapolis on July 10. They will also be joined by Japanese Breakfast, Nation of Language, and Jay Som on select dates.
“One of my favourite parts of being in this band is getting to be out on the road with artists that inspire us,” Gibbard said of their openers. “Japanese Breakfast, Jay Som and Nation of Language have made some of our favourite albums in recent years and we’re stoked they’ll be joining us this summer.”
Presale kicks off on Wednesday (January 28) at 10am local time, with the general on sale then starting at 10am local here on Friday (January 30). You can check out all dates below and visit here to sign up for early access to tickets.
