D4vd cancels US tour and deluxe album amidst investigation in decomposing teen body found in his Tesla

D4vd has cancelled his US tour and deluxe album release amid the ongoing investigation into the decomposing body found in his Tesla.

On September 8, a body was found in a vehicle registered to the artist, with police called out after a foul odour was reported to be coming from the car. Officers said that the Tesla had been there for a couple of days, and the body was inside a bag in the front boot.

The musician was on tour when the body was discovered, and initially continued as normal – thanking fans for their support and throwing Labubus into the crowd at a recent gig.

His string of US shows was set to wrap up with a gig at San Francisco’s The Warfield last night (September 19), and one in The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles tonight (September 20), however, both dates have now been cancelled as further details have emerged in the case.

Additionally, an upcoming event at the Grammy Museum scheduled for next Wednesday (September 24) has been cancelled, and d4vd’s label, Interscope, has put a hold on all promotional activities, including the planned release of a deluxe version of his album ‘Withered: Marcescence’, which was supposed to be released yesterday.

The tour was first put on hold earlier this week, when a show at Seattle’s Showbox SoDo slated for Wednesday (September 17) was cancelled.

His upcoming tour dates in Europe and the UK are still officially scheduled, but it seems unlikely they will go ahead amid the investigation.

No suspects have currently been named.

Earlier this week, it emerged that d4vd was reportedly staying in the home that Los Angeles Police recently searched in connection to a missing teenage girl.

The house on Doheny Place is reportedly only around 500 feet (143meters) from the parking spot on Bluebird Avenue, where the singer’s Tesla was abandoned. The car stayed in that location for at least three weeks before being towed to an impound lot on September 5.

Investigators took over a week to identify the body as it was “severely decomposed” and had been inside the car “for an extended period of time before being found”. The victim, now identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, is reported to have wavy black hair and a tattoo on her right index finger that read, “Shhh…” (via ABC News) A cause of death has not been publicly shared.

TMZ also claims that Rivas’ mother allegedly said that her daughter had been dating someone called “David” before her death, although this has not been confirmed. People reported in April that D4vd has a similar “Shhh…” tattoo on his index finger.

Burke’s lawyer has not issued a statement at time of writing. NME has reached out for comment.

Rolling Stone reports that the victim’s family declined to share any comment with the reporters that gathered outside their home on Wednesday (September 17).

Law enforcement said earlier this month that Burke had been informed of the investigation and was “cooperating” with authorities.

Both Crocs and Hollister have pulled back on a campaign that was set to feature the singer, and in a statement to Footwear News, the brands said: “We are aware of this developing story. With respect to the current situation, we have removed campaign content featuring D4vd while the investigation continues.”
