Coldplay and Spotify team up to launch new FC Barcelona shirt design

Coldplay and Spotify have teamed up to launch a brand new design of the FC Barcelona shirt.

The design will feature a Coldplay logo inspired by their latest album ‘Moon Music‘, which just dropped this month (October 4). FC Barcelona and Coldplay have had a shared history for years, with Coldplay’s anthem ‘Viva La Vida’ becoming the club’s unofficial anthem during the 2008-09 season.

There will only be 1899 jerseys available in honour of the club’s founding year, whilst there will be 22 special glow-in-the-dark shirts, half signed by the starting men’s team and the other half by the starting women’s. All net proceeds from the shirts will go towards the UNHCR, who began their partnership with FC Barcelona in 2022.

Speaking about the shirt, Coldplay said: “We’re honoured that Spotify has chosen to feature our Moon Music design on the shirt of FC Barcelona. We’ve had a special relationship with the city and the club for many years. We’re also proud to support the UNHCR in their life-saving work to protect refugees and displaced people around the world. Heartfelt thanks to Spotify and FC Barcelona for making this happen.”

The new shirt design will be worn for the upcoming El Clásico match against Real Madrid on October 26, whilst the FC Barcelona Femení will also sport the design against Eibar on November 2.

You can purchase the limited-edition shirt online; presale starts today (October 17) at 10.30pm BST here, whilst general sale will start on October 18 here.

FC Barcelona have launched a series of collaborations with musicians in recent years, with Drake, The Rolling Stones and KAROL G just some of the names to have their own designs with the club.

The Rolling Stones chose to partner with FC Barca in honour of their latest album ‘Hackney Diamonds‘, which dropped in October last year, whilst Drake celebrated becoming the first artist to reach 50billion streams on Spotify by designing a shirt with the club.
