Ciara Embraces Her Sensuality on Empowering Single ‘Ecstasy’

Ciara has released a new single, “Ecstasy,” via her own label Beauty Marks Entertainment. The slick R&B track was written by Ciara, Courtlin Jabrae, and Theron Thomas, and produced by Leather Jacket and Tommy (TBHITS) Brown.

The song is accompanied by a cinematic music video, directed by Diane Martel, which emphasizes the sultry nature of the tune. It showcases Ciara’s smooth, impressive choreography as she sings, “My body comes alive/ When you get real close/ You gon’ be surprised/ If I get exposed/ ‘Cause you’re like a hit of ecstasy.”

“On every album having the ultimate slow R&B record is always a must for me,” Ciara shared in a statement. “We call it baby making music where I’m from! I can’t wait for the world to see the video and experience Ecstasy with me! The CiCi Way!”

Ciara’s last LP, Beauty Marks, arrived in 2019. She followed it with an EP, Ci Ci, in 2023. Last year, the singer collaborated with Busta Rhymes on single “Wassup,” also released via via Beauty Marks Entertainment. It marked the second new single from Ciara in 2024 following “Run It Up,” featuring BossMan Dlow.

Although Ciara hasn’t officially announced a new album, it sounds like “Ecstasy” may be an early listen from a future LP. Earlier this year she told Bustle she always focuses on evolving as an artist. “I’m always trying to find a way to keep things fresh and make sure I’m always looking ahead and — most importantly — have fun,” she said. “I think the fun is what’s carried me and sustained me.”

She added, “If you live by the cheers, then you die by the boos. I’ve seen artists come, and I’ve seen some artists go, and again, no one gets it right all the time, but I am grateful that I’ve been able to sustain myself, and I’ve been grateful that my fans still stand tall for me and that people show me love in the way that they do. I think there’s something to that. I have to remind myself, like, be proud of all that you’ve accomplished, because you have done something, right?”
