Chubby and The Gang appear to have broken up

London punk outfit Chubby and The Gang appear to have broken up – find out more below.

Last night (March 31), the band – led by Charlie Manning-Walker – took to social media to announce what appears to be their split. They wrote: “Every dog has his day, ours came and went away. Thank you for the good times sorry for the bad ones and for a great six years. Who fuckin loves ya? Chubby does.”

While the band are seemingly calling it a day, they have confirmed that their merchandise will still be available for purchase.

Formed in London in 2019, Chubby and The Gang was a supergroup of sorts, comprised of frontman Charlie “Chubby Charles” Manning-Walker, guitarists Ethan Stahl and Tom “Razor” Hardwick, bassist Maegan Brooks Mills and drummer Joe McMahon, all from other UK punk bands like Arms Race, Vile Spirit and Gutter Knife.

To date, the band have released three studio albums; 2020’s ‘Speed Kills’, 2021’s ‘The Mutt’s Nuts’, and most recently, October 2024’s ‘And Then There Was…’. They’ve also released one EP in the form of 2022’s ‘Labour of Love’.

Despite featuring members of various punk bands, Chubby and The Gang was ultimately seen as a solo project by Manning-Walker and following the release of their holiday double-single ‘A Christmas Extravaganza’ in 2022, Charlie had revealed that he had replaced all of the other members of the band.

Chubby and The Gang’s 2020 debut ‘Speed Kills’ was named among NME‘s 20 Best Debut Albums list for that year.

In a four-star review of Chubby and The Gang’s 2021 album ‘The Mutt’s Nuts’, Max Pilley wrote for NME: “There is no posturing to working class credentials here; this is what the real thing sounds like. It is a potent reminder of how ‘The Mutt’s Nuts’ expands the boundaries of what Chubby and the Gang are looking to achieve, but they’re not about to forget where they came from.”
