Writing in her forthcoming memoir Cher: The Memoir – the first part of which is set to be released on November 19 – she detailed how she met Lennon and Harry Nilsson at a Los Angeles restaurant in 1974 and invited them to the infamous mansion.

Although it was known for its wild parties, the trio attended one of mansion’s “movie nights” which were said to be more laid-back, featuring cocktails, dinner, and new film screenings.

According to Cher (via The Mirror), when they got to the mansion Lennon and Nilsson, who were both drunk, started chanting “Hef! Hef! Hef! ” in exaggerated posh English accents, prompting her to steer them away from Playboy founder Hugh Hefner to the “Grotto”.

She added: “Giggling and falling over each other, John and Harry followed me out into the grounds. Sitting them down inside the infamous Grotto – it was like a huge cave that one end of the swimming pool went into – I went to find a drink and when I came back they were standing in the middle of the Grotto naked but still in the water, thank God.

“I was trying not to laugh, but it was impossible not to as they threatened to wander around the mansion naked. It took me ages to get them back in their clothes. It was like herding drunks.”

The book is being released via Harper Collins, with the second part being released sometime next year. You can preorder Cher: The Memoir, Part One here

A synopsis of the book reads: “With her trademark honesty and humour, Cher: The Memoir traces how this diamond in the rough succeeded with no plan and little confidence to become the trailblazing superstar the world has been unable to ignore for more than half a century.”

It continued: “Cher: The Memoir, Part One follows her extraordinary beginnings through childhood to meeting and marrying Sonny Bono – and reveals the highly complicated relationship that made them world-famous, but eventually drove them apart.

Cher: The Memoir reveals the daughter, the sister, the wife, the lover, the mother and the superstar. It is a life too immense for only one book.”

Meanwhile, after years of being snubbed, Cher was recently finally inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. During the ceremony, Cher joined forces with Dua Lipa for a rendition of ‘Believe’.

Elsewhere, fans recently reacted to Lennon and George Harrison’s omission from The Beatles’ new Grammy nomination for ‘Now And Then’.
