The new version, which has been remixed by producer and songwriter Tom Sharkett, was originally a bootleg the band first heard played on Flo Dill’s Breakfast Show on NTS.
“It wormed its way into our hearts and never left. So we made it official. Sometimes the internet actually makes your life better,” the band added.
You can listen to ‘Home’ below and pre-order the 12 inch version, which features a vocal and instrumental version, via DFA here and here.
The band are currently in the middle of an eight night residency at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, which wraps up tonight (June 22). You can purchase any remaining tickets here.
LCD Soundsystem previously took over O2 Academy Brixton for a six-night residency in 2022. They also headlined All Point’s East Festival in 2024 following a triumphant Pyramid Stage performance at Glastonbury. The band ended that year with a celebrated New York ‘Winter Function’ residency.
They are currently working on a follow-up to 2017’s ‘American Dream’. New single ‘X-Ray Eyes’ was released last November with the group’s fifth album due out at some point this year.
The band recently extended their US tour which will now run through August, while they will play a special pair of joint-headline shows with Pulp at the Hollywood Bowl in September.
Meanwhile, Dave Grohl recently covered LCD Soundsystem‘s ‘Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’ during a recent surprise appearance at a fundraiser.
The Foo Fighters frontman appeared and performed for Oakwood Live at Avalon Hollywood at a school benefit in Los Angeles. At the gig, Grohl was joined by Foos bandmate Rami Jaffee, as well as musicians Wiley Hodgen and John Lousteau.
On Friday (June 20), he also joined Kim Deal for a rendition of Pixies‘ ‘Gigantic’ in London.
