Charli XCX Says Bye to ‘Brat’ With Cryptic Message

The star performed the last show of her tour in South Korea on Friday

Charli XCX concluded her headlining tour in support of her colossal record Brat on Friday at One Universe Festival in Gwacheon-si, South Korea. To mark the occasion, the singer left fans with a farewell message, officially ending her blockbuster run.

“Please don’t let it be over,” read a large screen as the singer walked across the stage. A photo capturing the moment was shared by Charli on social media.

Brat‘s lime-green album cover and euphoric pop tracks dominated social feeds and the cultural landscape in 2024 following the record’s release. From TikTok to Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign to the Grammys (where Charli won three awards including Best Dance Pop Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Album), her lasting impact on the industry was inescapable.

When discussing her potential follow-up, Charli said she doesn’t “really feel the pressure to create another record like Brat” during an interview at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. “When I was making [Brat], even though I really believed in it and totally knew what I wanted to do with it, I had no idea how it would be received,” she said. “So yeah, I don’t really feel the pressure because I feel that you can never really do the same thing twice, and my next record will probably be a flop, which I’m down for to be honest.”

While it seems like her Brat era has reached its hyperpop end (for now), Charli has several on-screen projects underway including her feature in the upcoming erotic thriller I Want Your Sex alongside Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman; the satire Sacrifice with Chris Evans and Anya Taylor-Joy; and the fantasy film 100 Nights of Hero. Charli also played an outlandish version of herself for Benito Skinner’s hit comedy series Overcompensating, which released in May.
