As fans and artists alike gear up for this Sunday’s Grammys, Chappell Roan is taking a beat to share some gratitude for her fans.
In a post to her Instagram on Wednesday (Jan. 29), Roan shared a series of selfies while writing a lengthy note of appreciation to her fans. “Good morning booboos. It’s Grammy week,” she said. “I am very emo. My heart feels warm and fuzzy with all the support I have been given this past year. I hope you can understand that this has been incredible and scary and spiritual and confusing. I’ve been crying tears of joy and grief and feeling loved and lonely and free.”
The singer continued, adding that she wouldn’t be in her position if it weren’t for her fans’ support. “Ultimately, I am grateful for every one of you who gave my music a little spin and showed your ass up to shows and festivals. Because yall are rockstars I feel like a rockstar,” she wrote, before quickly adding: “Damn I am cheesy lowkey.”
Roan is nominated for six awards at Sunday’s ceremony, including nods in each of the Big Four categories: best new artist, album of the year (for The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess), song of the year and record of the year (both for “Good Luck, Babe!”). Additionally, Roan is set to perform at Sunday’s ceremony, a fact that the singer teased fans with in her post: “I love the performance we’re preparing for you all,” she wrote.
In the final lines of her message, the “Pink Pony Club” singer also made sure to give a special shout-out to her LGBTQ+ fans after a hard few weeks for the community. “Just know when I’m up on stage, all I’m really feeling in my heart is love to the queer community especially those in places where it is unsafe to be yourself,” she said. “I see you.”
