Earlier this month, Roan began teasing a new single, ‘The Giver’ by directing her fans to call the number “620-468-8646” (or “620-HOT-TOGO”). For those who dialled the number, a variety of choices is offered that can be selected by pressing a number on the keypad. Pressing one is for fans wanting to book “an appointment with a dentist”, two is for those looking to “reach an attorney”, three is to report a “plumbing issue” and so on.

Then, she began uploading images of herself dressed in a suit on social media and told fans that they could pre-order a seven-inch vinyl “lawyer edition” of ‘The Giver’.

Last night (February 25), Roan unveiled a second version of her ‘The Giver’ persona, known simply as “the plumber”. She posted a picture of herself in coveralls with a plunger in-hand and informed fans that they could pre-order the “plumber edition” of ‘The Giver’ through her site. She wrote in her caption: “Yep. Showing crack is back.”

The seven-inch vinyl is due to ship on August 18. Per its official description, side A of the record will feature ‘The Giver’ while side B will feature the demo ‘Fit It In The Morning’ – all pre-orders are currently sold out, but could possibly be opened up for more in the future.

‘The Giver’ has yet to receive an official release, nor has a release date for the single been announced. However, it’s not the first time that fans have heard the song as the former NME Cover star broke out the upcoming track during an appearance on Saturday Night Live last November.

Speaking about the track, last July, producer Dan Nigro told The New York Times that fans could expect a “fun, up-tempo country song” that featured a fiddle, and would show “a new version” of the singer. Then, as highlighted by Uproxx, in November the pop star explained that the track is a country-inspired single that recalls how women “get the job done”.

“It will come out! It will come out; don’t worry,” she told Brandi Carlile at the Grammy Museum. “But that was so fun to write. I got to bring what I knew to the table, ’cause I’m a country girl. So I got to be like, ‘No, no, no, like, let me show you some country songs.’”

In other Chappell Roan news, earlier this month the singer made headlines when she used her Best New Artist speech at the 67th Grammy Awards to take aim at record labels and share her past experience as a struggling new artist.

Prior to that, the singer’s ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ was named as NME’s best song of 2024. “With ‘Good Luck, Babe!’, Roan set out to write a ‘big anthemic pop song’. It was an unqualified success: over subtly insistent synth-pop, Roan serves up home truths to someone desperately trying to deny their queerness,” the entry read.
