Musician’s simple request for photographers on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame red carpet has gone viral
Chappell Roan has a simple request for photographers on the red carpet: no yelling please. The photogs on the red carpet at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last weekend were requested to keep it down before she walked for her photo op.
Last Saturday, Roan was on site at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony to induct Cyndi Lauper while wearing an elaborate fit that pays tribute to a couple of classic Lauper looks. While Roan’s moving speech has also made the rounds, a video has gone viral of a red carpet attendant offering up instructions to the gaggle of media folks ready to take photos and video of Roan walking down the carpet.
“OK, Chappell’s coming. No one will yell at her or she will leave,” the attendant said. “Everyone, be quiet, be nice, be smiling.” While there were a few snickers, the photographers obliged and got their photos. Roan even spun for a photographer who politely asked. (Though when she posted the photos from the carpet on Instagram, she did not credit said photographers).

Roan has been direct about her distaste for demanding photographers on red carpets. At the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, when one crudely yelled “shut the fuck up,” Roan responded by repeating the demand back to them. She pointed her finger and added “No. Not me bitch.”
Moments later, Roan spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the incident. “This is quite overwhelming and quite scary. For someone who gets a lot of anxiety around people yelling at you, the carpet is horrifying, and I yelled back,” she said. “I yelled back. You don’t get to yell at me like that.”
