Chappell Roan kicks off final leg of summer festival tour with dramatic Øya 2025 headline set

Chappell Roan kicked off the latest leg of her summer festival tour with a theatrical headline show at Øya 2025 last night (Wednesday August 6). See footage, photos and what went down below.

Arriving on stage at the Oslo festival to ‘Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things’, the US alt-pop sensation was greeted by huge cheers from the packed-out Amfiet Field as she stood atop an ambitious medieval castle that filled the stage – kicking into ‘Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl’ before a rapturously received ‘Femininomenon’.

“Hello, my name is Chappell Roan,” she told the crowd, who were donning glitter and pink cowboy hats. “Are you ready to get naked Øya? OK, prove it!”

Clothes largely remained on despite a spirited reception, as she rolled through the majority of her 2023 slow-burner debut album ‘The Rise and Fall Of A Midwest Princess’ along with recent singles ‘Good Luck, Babe!’, ‘The Giver’ and ‘The Subway’ – complete with costume changes and a cameo from a pet toy lizard.

There was no talk of the elusive second album, but she did pay tribute to the community of fans built around her. “I needed this when I was 15,” she told the crowd, taking comfort in how they allowed one another the “freedom to “dress up” and express themselves. “You are cherished,” Roan added.

Other than the early mass choreography of ‘HOT TO GO!’ and her now traditional cover of Heart’s ‘Barracuda’, highlights came when she read out messages from fans about their exes – with the biggest boo coming for one who cheated on said partner “twice in the same Burger King parking lot” – and the epic sing-along closer of ‘Pink Pony Club’.

Chappell Roan’s Øya setlist was:

‘Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl’
‘Femininomenon’
‘After Midnight’
‘Naked in Manhattan’
‘Guilty Pleasure’
‘Casual’
‘The Subway’
‘HOT TO GO!’
‘Barracuda’ (Heart cover)
‘Picture You’
‘Kaleidoscope’
‘The Giver’
‘Red Wine Supernova’
‘Coffee’
‘Good Luck, Babe!’
‘My Kink Is Karma’
‘Pink Pony Club’

Oslo’s Øya Festival 2025 continues with headline sets from Charli XCX, Queens Of The Stone Age and Girl In Red alongside performances from the likes of Fontaines D.C., Kneecap, Heartworms, Kelly Lee Owens, Anna Of The North, The Mary Wallopers and many more.

From here, Chappell Roan’s summer tour continues with dates including Syd For Solen in Denmark, Sweden’s Way Out West, Sziget in Hungary, Paris’ Rock En Seine and a run of other European shows before headlining Reading & Leeds 2025 with Hozier, Bring Me The Horizon and Travis Scott.

Fans eagerly await news of more new material after Roan recently revealed that her second album “doesn’t exist yet” and could “take at least five years to write”.
