Central Cee gets “Boy Better Know” tattoo, Skepta replies

Central Cee paid homage to the grime legend Skepta by getting a tattoo of the Boy Better Know logo on a livestream.

Last Friday (January 24), the rapper went on PlaqueBoyMax’s live stream for an ‘In The Booth’ studio session and made the dreamy drill song ’24 Hours’ together. The duo also listened to Cee’s new debut album ‘Can’t Rush Greatness’ – which features the Tottenham rapper on the energetic and hard-hitting ‘Ten’.

While listening to the record, a tattoo artist showed up and Cench chose to get an outline of the iconic block-lettered logo of Boy Better Know – the pioneering grime collective founded by Skepta and his brother JME back in 2005.

“I wanted to get something for, like, Skepta, like a Boy Better Know tatt’ or something,” Cench revealed. “Man really grew up on Skep’, like, and the fact on the album and that – that’s one big accolade for man, but I don’t know.”

“Big up, Skep,” Cench said once his new body art was finished. Skepta retweeted a photo of Cench’s new BBK tattoo, suggesting that he will get one in homage to Cee in the caption: “#CantRushGreatness tatt pending [sand timer emojis]”.

‘Can’t Rush Greatness’ is out now via Cench’s label CC4L and Columbia Records, which features verses from Skepta, Lil Durk, Young Miko, Dave, Kamal and 21 Savage.

In a glowing four-star review, NME wrote: “Yes, some duds should have been left off the album, but it’s still worth the wait. Central Cee could easily remain hidden behind his signature mystique, but instead tells the story of a boy turned man all while on the world’s stage. No smoke and mirrors, the album is authentically Cench every step of the way.”

Recently, it was revealed that Cee was nominated for three BRIT awards: Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and best Hip-hop/Grime/Rap Act. Check out the full list of nominees for the BRIT Awards 2025 here.

This Thursday (January 30) will see Cench take over London’s KOKO for a one-off gig in his hometown.
