Cate Le Bon shares dreamy new single ‘Always The Same’ featuring St. Vincent

Cate Le Bon has shared a dreamy new single ‘Always The Same’, featuring vocals from St. Vincent – check it out below.

The art-pop singer-songwriter released her seventh studio album ‘Michelangelo Dying’ last September and now she is back with ‘Always The Same’, which marks her second collaboration with St. Vincent.

Le Bon produced and featured on the title track of St. Vincent’s 2024 album ‘All Born Screaming’, and this time around, Annie Clark has returned the favour by contributing echoey vocals to the woozy, dream-like ‘Always The Same’, which is based around shimmering, watery guitars.

Check out the official visualiser for the song here:

Le Bon has said: “‘Always The Same’ needed a little more elbow room than the album would allow but it is cousin to the song cycle of ‘Michelangelo Dying’, coming into formation in the same breath. Special to me because it features dear friend and mighty artist St. Vincent who occupies the space around me with composure and gravitas whilst I kick around in the dirty waters of love.”

Clark and Le Bon have been friends for several years, with Clark describing her as “one of my favourite artists ever and a great producer in her own right”.

Speaking to NME about Le Bon’s appearance on ‘All Born Screaming’, Clark said: ““[I also brought in] Cate Le Bon, who’s an incredible producer in her own right. There’s music you love and then there’s music you love that you also listen to all the time. Cate is somebody I listen to all the time, especially her last record ‘Pompeii’. We’ve been good friends for a long time and she played bass and sang on [the title track] ‘All Born Screaming’. She really held my hand at a moment when I wanted to drown that baby in the bathwater – like, not throw it out, just drown it!”

Le Bon continues to be a sought-after producer, having helmed the third Dry Cleaning album ‘Secret Love’, which was released on Friday (January 9) and received a four-star review from NME.

Le Bon is also heading out on tour in the US this week, kicking off in Washington DC on Monday (January 12). See all the dates below and find any remaining tickets here.
