Bruce Springsteen will headline a Stand Up For Heroes veterans benefit show in New York in November.
The fundraiser is set to take place at David Geffen Hall at the Lincoln Center in Manhattan on November 9, and it will mark the 20th anniversary of Stand Up For Heroes, which is held in connection with the New York Comedy Festival.
Also on the bill will be ‘Ordinary’ star Alex Warren and The Resilient, a band made up primarily of severely wounded US combat veterans. Jon Stewart, Hasan Minhaj and The Daily Show‘s Josh Johnson will also perform comedy sets.
Stand Up For Heroes launched in 2006 and held its first major event the following year. It supports veterans, service members and their families and over two decades, it has raised $117million (£86million) for its cause. Tickets are on sale for this year’s show here.
“Twenty years ago, we put together Stand Up For Heroes with a simple idea: bring people together with laughter and music in honour of those who have sacrificed so much for our country,” said Bob Woodruff, the ABC News correspondent who co-founded the initiative.
“Right there in the theatre, veterans and service members share the spotlight with unforgettable tributes by world-class performers. Those who come to the show will ensure that men and women serving today will not be left behind tomorrow.”
Springsteen has appeared at multiple Stand Up For Heroes events, including in 2023, when he played ‘Addicted To Romance’ live for the first time and joined John Mellencamp for ‘Wasted Days’.
The Boss’ ‘Land Of Hope And Dreams’ tour wrapped up in Philadelphia in May, a trek inspired by his objection to the Donald Trump administration and ICE’s killing of two citizens in Minnesota. Trump called on his supporters to boycott the “overpriced concerts”, while Springsteen branded him a “President who can’t handle the truth” at the first show.
In July, Springsteen made a surprise appearance during Bon Jovi’s Madison Square Garden show, joining them for ‘Who Says You Can’t Go Home’ and ‘The Promised Land’.
Earlier this month, the Boss also revealed that his wife and fellow E Street Band musician Patti Scialfa was in remission from cancer. “As you know, Patti’s been living with her multiple myeloma for over eight years, but now thankfully she is in remission,” he said.
Scialfa first publicly discussed her 2018 diagnosis in the 2024 documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band, explaining that the condition had weakened her immune system and led to limited appearances for her on tour.
