Britpop icons Sleeper announce ‘Inbetweener’ 2025 UK greatest hits tour

Sleeper have announced details of a greatest hits tour, set to head across the UK later this year. Find details below.

The Britpop icons have shared the tour dates in celebration of their classic single ‘Inbetweener’ and breakthrough debut album ‘Smart’, which each turn 30 this year.

In total, 12 new tour dates have been confirmed, kicked off on September 25 with an opening night at the Tramshed venue in Cardiff. It continues with stops in Bristol’s SWX and Leeds’ Stylus on September 26 and 27 respectively.

The remainder of the dates pick up the following month, and commence with two back-to-back slots at the Electric Ballroom in London on October 2 and 3. From there, other shows include gigs in Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Glasgow, Nottingham and Oxford.

Dates wrap up with a penultimate night at Manchester’s Albert Hall on October 17, and with a final stop at the Concorde 2 venue in Brighton the following night.

“’Inbetweener’ is where it all started for us – our first hit single – and we can’t wait to head back on tour to mark the 30th anniversary,” said frontwoman, Louise Wener. “Sleeper gigs are a joyful experience, and this tour will be especially celebratory; mixing songs from our entire back catalogue as we head into something completely new.”

Tickets go on sale this Friday (January 31) at 10am, and pre-sale options begin on Wednesday (29). Visit here to buy tickets and find a list of dates below.

Sleeper’s 1995 debut album ‘Smart’ was the one that first put the band on the map – enjoying huge success across the ‘90s and reaching Number Five on the UK Charts. The group went on to reach eight Top 40 singles and three Top 10 albums before their split in 1998. They would later re-form in 2017 and share their comeback album ‘The Modern Age’ the following year.

Ahead of their upcoming ‘Inbetweener’ tour dates, the band will be joining Ocean Colour Scene as special guests for the latter’s show at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena. They will also be making numerous festival appearances later in the year. Visit here for tickets to all remaining shows.

Back in 2019, Wener spoke to NME as part of the ongoing Does Rock ‘N’ Roll Kill Braincells?! series, and put her memory of some of the band’s biggest moments to the test.

One of the questions was about the ‘Inbetweener’ single, and asked the frontwoman what household product she held in the video and which item Dale Winton used as percussion. “Was it a mocked-up soap powder of some sort? I think Dale had maracas,” she said before it was clarified that Winton used Pringles.

“Almost correct! I’m sure he had maracas as well! We used to get up late, watch Supermarket Sweep, then rehearse. It was cult viewing for us, so it was amazing to have him do it. He was lovely, full of energy and humour. Video shoots are long with early starts and he was mucking in and making everyone laugh most of the day.”
