Ahead of the upcoming awards ceremony, which will take place at The O2 in London on Saturday March 1 and broadcast exclusively on ITV1 and ITVX, the BRITS have announced that Charli is being awarded the Songwriter of the Year honour.

Her crowning comes after her longtime collaborator A. G. Cook – who also worked with her on the acclaimed ‘Brat’ – has been named this year’s Producer Of The Year.

In a press statement Damian Christian, Chair of the BRIT Committee for 2025 said of Charli XCX’s win: “Charli has had an undeniable year, taking her experimental brand of electronic and pop from underground raves to the heart of mainstream culture. Charli’s songwriting is distinctive, bold and relentlessly innovative, and, having been one of the UK’s leading songwriters for a number of years now, has taken her craft to new heights with her global phenomenon Brat. I’m delighted she has been recognised for this much deserved award.”

Charli will head into the BRIT Awards this weekend as its top nominee, leading the pack with five nods including Artist Of The Year, Pop Act and Dance Act. Her collaboration with Billie Eilish, ‘Guess’, is also up for Song Of The Year, with Mastercard while her ‘BRAT’ record is shortlisted for Mastercard Album Of The Year.

Also nominated this year are The Cure, who have received their first BRIT nominations in over three decades for ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ – they are up for Album Of The Year, Group Of The Year and Alt/Rock Act. The Beatles have also been nominated for the Song Of The Year with Mastercard for ‘Now And Then’ – you can check out the complete list of nominees for the BRIT Awards 2025 here.

Set to perform this year are Sam Fender and Lola Young, who were recently announced as the final live performers, joining previously confirmed acts like Sabrina Carpenter alongside JADE, Shaboozey, Teddy Swims, The Last Dinner Party and Myles Smith – the latter of whom won this year’s Rising Star award.

Carpenter will be the recipient of the prestigious Global Success award at this year’s ceremony. She will join an elite roster of acts who have been awarded the exclusive prize – past recipients are limited to One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Adele and Sam Smith.

Back in November, the new trophy design was revealed ahead of the 2025 ceremony. It was created by Gabriel Moses, an acclaimed British-Nigerian multi-disciplinary artist, who has collaborated with the likes of Skepta, Little Simz, Burberry and more throughout the years.
