Yesterday (December 5), the Sheffield rockers were amongst the first names on the line-up for Reading & Leeds 2025, alongside headliners Chappell Roan, Travis Scott and Hozier all set. It marks their second stint as headliners as they continue to take their celebrated 2024 album ‘Post Human: Nex Gen‘ on the road with their only 2025 UK festival appearance.
“We are beyond excited to be returning to Reading & Leeds for our first fully fledged headline slot. We are going to bring hands down the greatest show of our careers,” said Sykes, after the metal icons shared top-billing with Arctic Monkeys for their stellar set, back in 2022.
“It’s going to be our only UK performance next year and the final European show of the NEX GEN campaign before the band take time away, so if you want to see BMTH next year, this truly is your only chance. Can’t wait.”
The record was named in NME’s list of the Best Albums Of 2024, which noted that “multiple delays and Jordan Fish’s exit didn’t stop ‘Post Human: Nex Gen’ delivering on four years of hype”.
Sykes has since spoken to Kerrang! about the making of the album and shared plans for potential new material. “We wrote so much for NeX GEn, there’s so many cool songs that are kicking about, and I think the world would love to hear them,” he said.
“I would love to get out maybe a ‘director’s cut’ version of the record or something. But I’m trying to put less pressure on myself, and not promise anything! After the last record it felt like people were gonna start hunting me down and taking me for ransom. But I’m sure there’ll be new music and concerts and all that next year.”
It echoed comments Sykes made earlier this year to NME, in which he cryptically covered the next direction of their music. “I’ve realised that what I’ve been doing for years is building this world in my head and not telling anyone about it,” he said. “That narrative is going to feed into the next one and I don’t want to give it all away because the way the record ends for me personally is realising that I’ve got to leave.”
