Bright Eyes Cancel Remainder of 2024 Tour Dates Due to Conor Oberst’s Vocal Issues

Bright Eyes have canceled the remainder of their 2024 tour dates due to singer Conor Oberst’s vocal issues.

Earlier this month, the band — on the road in support of their latest album Five Dice, All Threes — nixed a trio of dates after “warm up shows we played earlier this week resulted in Conor losing his voice.”

The rest of the tour plans remained intact, however, “Over the past week, Conor has undergone multiple tests to determine the cause of his recent vocal problems. It’s come to light that he has developed a condition that is exacerbated by excessive singing, requiring both treatment and recuperation,” Bright Eyes said in a statement Friday.

“We are confident that with a successful regimen, and continued medical attention, we will be able to return to the road next year,” adding that the band will attempt to reschedule the 2024 shows.

Among the canceled dates were shows in Los Angeles, Oakland, and Las Vegas, as well as a stretch of European concerts.  “We love our fans and are incredibly disappointed that we won’t be able to play these shows,” the band added.

Depending on Oberst’s recovery, Bright Eyes have already scheduled four months worth of North American gigs in 2025, starting January 16 in Phoenix, Arizona and continuing on through April 26 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Five Dice, All Threes, the band’s first album in four years, arrived last week. The LP features collaborations with Cat Power, the National’s Matt Berninger, and the So So Glos’ Alex Orange Drink.
