“There are few figures who embody the spirit of Tribeca’s Harry Belafonte Award more fully than Bruce Springsteen,” said festival co-chair and co-founder Jane Rosenthal about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame icon’s tireless work to follow in the footsteps of civil rights activist/singer Belafonte by using his platform to speak out and advance “equality, dignity and human rights.”

The honor will include Springsteen in conversation with longtime friend and fellow activist Bono, as well as tributes from punk godmother Patti Smith and actor Robert De Niro. The 25th edition of the festival will run from Jun 3-14 in New York (with tickets on sale here now).

De Niro will also take part in a 50th anniversary celebration of his landmark film Taxi Driver, with a screening of the gritty 1976 drama and conversation between the actor and the movie’s director, Martin Scorsese.

Tribeca will host the world premiere of the new tour doc Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour — Live in Paris, followed by a conversation with Perry, as well as a 25th anniversary celebration of Bridget Jones’ Diary, along with a chat with director Sharon Maguire and star Renée Zellweger. Among the other music titles on tap is a newly restored 20th anniversary 4K version of retired French electronic duo Daft Punk’s 2006 sci-fi film Electroma, with an after-screening chat with member Thomas Bangalter.

Among the other fan-favorite retrospectives and reunions lined up for this year’s event are a 30th anniversary screening of neo-noir drama Bound, with a chat to follow with director Lilly Wachowski and stars Gina Gershon and Joe Pantoliano and a 20th anniversary showing of Small Town Gay Bar, a portrait of a community and self-expression in two Mississippi gay bars executive produced by Kevin Smith (Clerks).

Other highlights include a conversation about activism and global impact between Sean Penn and CNN chief White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins and Haim bassist Este Haim sharing insights from her career, from live performance to composing music for a number of film and TV projects, including Cha Cha Real Smooth, Maid and You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah!

In addition, Paul Rudd will be on hand to talk about his long career in film, Finneas will discuss his perspective as one of the most sought-after musical collaborators in music with BAFTA-nominated composer Anthony Willis and Keke Palmer will round out the Storytellers Series with a conversation with Whoopi Goldberg.

The opening night of this year’s festival will feature a screening of Roots drummer Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson‘s documentary, Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial VS That’s the Weight of the World), followed by a post-screening live performance by EW&F and the Roots.
