Billie Eilish says images of her at this year’s Met Gala are fake: “That’s AI!”

Billie Eilish has hit out against supposed images depicting the singer at this year’s Met Gala, warning that they’re “AI”.

Eilish, who is currently in the middle of her ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’ world tour, took to Instagram to clarify some recent images of her at the Met Gala.

Though Eilish is no stranger to the annual gala, becoming the gala’s youngest co-chair at 19 in 2021, Eilish didn’t turn up this year as she was on tour. The singer was performing in Amsterdam on the same day as the Met this year.

Taking to Instagram, Eilish took it upon herself to clear up the rumours. She began: “Seeing people talk about what I wore to this year’s Met Gala being trash… I wasn’t there. That’s AI.

“I had a show in Europe that night,” she continued laughing, before finally concluding: “Let me be!”

Recently, Billie Eilish played her cover of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ in Amsterdam – the first time she’s ever played it in full.

Eilish has been a longtime fan of Radiohead and in 2019, it emerged that the feeling was mutual, with frontman Thom Yorke praising her defiant spirit: “I like Billie Eilish. She’s doing her own thing. Nobody’s telling her what to do.”

Eilish’s tour manager Brian Marquis later revealed that Yorke met her backstage at a show and told her, “You’re the only one doing anything fucking interesting nowadays”.

The singer also made a surprise appearance at Coachella this year, joining Charli XCX on stage to perform their remix of ‘Guess’. Their collaboration was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at this year’s Grammys, with the accompanying music video seeing over 10,000 pairs of pants donated to charity.

In other news, Eilish has also announced another set of her Overheated climate action events in London and Berlin, aiming to bring together “climate activists, musicians and designers at the two venues and other leading voices filled with discussion, community building and resources to help tackle the climate crisis”.
