The life-affirming track is the latest preview of the Scottish trio’s 10th studio album, ‘Futique’, which is released next Friday (September 19). Pre-order/pre-save here.

“‘True Believer’ is about faith: not religious faith, but having faith in your life decisions. Try not to doubt yourself so much,” explained frontman Simon Neil, who uses religious imagery as a metaphor for vulnerable emotions.

“Whenever you’re in those moments to make big life decisions, you’re not as flippant as you think you are.”

He continued: “Sometimes I look back and think, ‘Why did I make that decision?’ and actually, I knew exactly what I was doing at the time. So have faith in yourself and the people you love.

“Love is the only thing in my life I have conditional faith in. It’s what drives my relationships and our music.”

Neil expresses his unflinching “hope“, before an anthemic chorus hears him sing: “I’m not devout, just a true believer/ Never in doubt, such a true believer/ So how are you feeling now?/ Are you still so fucking, still so fucking proud?/ And never in doubt?

‘True Believer’ is accompanied by an official visualiser, which consists of footage of the ‘Futique’ era so far. The clip blends visuals from the album’s recording sessions and summer live shows, along with behind-the-scenes content. Tune in above.

According to Neil, the forthcoming ‘Futique’ is “an exploration of ideas, objects or relationships that exist across time”. He added: “We are never aware when we do anything for the last time, and there’s a beauty and sadness within that. What will be your ‘Futique’?”

Biffy Clyro had previously previewed the LP with the singles ‘A Little Love’ and ‘Hunting Season’. The album follows 2021’s ‘The Myth Of The Happily Ever After’, and also comes after Neil performing with his other band, Empire State Bastard, in 2023 and 2024.

The Biff are due to embark on a UK and Ireland arena tour next year, including a stop at The O2 in London. They’ll be joined at the dates by special guests  Soft Play and The Armed. You can find any remaining tickets here.

Additionally, Biffy Clyro have announced some intimate acoustic shows in the UK for next month to mark the launch of ‘Futique’.

This summer saw the trio headline TRNSMT in Glasgow, play a huge slot on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, host two shows at the Eden Sessions, and appear at numerous European festivals.
