Beyoncé Will Join Kamala Harris at Houston Rally: Report

Willie Nelson and Bey’s mom Tina Knowles also appeared at the rally

Beyoncé will appear at Vice President Kamala Harris rally in Houston on Friday, multiple outlets have reported. The iconic musician’s appearance comes several weeks after rumors spread that she was going to join Harris at the Democratic National Convention.

Friday’s rally is also set to feature country music icon Willie Nelson and Beyoncé’s’ mom and avid Harris supporter, Tina Knowles. (A Harris spokesperson confirmed Nelson and Knowles’ appearance on X, but have yet to address Bey’s appearance.)

It’s unclear if Beyoncé will be performing at the rally – though MSNBC reports “she is set to perform” – or if she’ll just hit the stage as artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Eminem have done on the campaign trail while supporting Harris. (Eminem introduced Barack Obama at a rally in Detroit earlier this week.)

Beyoncé’s song “Freedom” has soundtracked much of the Harris-Walz ticket since this summer. Beyoncé’s reps reportedly gave the vice president permission to use “Freedom” during her campaign just a few hours before her campaign launch event in July. In the aftermath, “Freedom” saw a big uptick in streams, jumping 1,300 percent according to data from Luminate (which powers the Billboard charts).  The campaign even launched a video ad using the track at the DNC.

In late August, rumors spread that Beyoncé was set to join Harris and would perform at the DNC in late August. Her publicist shut down rumors on Instagram that night: “Focus on the win and register to vote. Do not report rumors. FOCUS.”

Beyoncé has been politically involved in the last several elections. She sang the national anthem for President Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2008, endorsed Obama in 2012, and joined Hillary Clinton for a concert to mobilize voters in Ohio in 2016.
