Benson Boone Bumps Into an Ex Before a Date on Catchy ‘Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else’

Synth-y pop-rock track marks Boone’s first release of the year, after “Beautiful Things” became the highest-selling track of 2024

Benson Boone is upping the antics (and running into past loves) on his synthy pop-rock single, “Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else.” On Thursday, the pop star released the new song, which finds him running into a past lover while on his way to see someone else.

“I’m sorry I’m here for someone else/It’s good to see your face,” he sings on the track’s chorus. “And I really hope you’re doing well/I hope you’re doing well.” Boone worked on the track with Jack LaFrantz and Jason Evigan, who were collaborators on his album Fireworks and Rollerblades.

Boone has been promoting the new single on TikTok over the last several days, including sharing video of himself lip-syncing the track’s catchy lyrics to the camera from different spots of a mansion.

“Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else” is Boone’s first song of 2025, after dropping “Pretty Slowly” and “Death Wish Love” from the Twisters soundtrack last year. The singer’s album Fireworks & Rollerblades, which included “Beautiful Things,” came out last April.

“Beautiful Things” was the highest-selling song of 2024 across digital formats, including streaming and downloads with an equivalent of 2.11 billion global subscription streams. The track’s success earned Boone a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. He performed at the 2025 Grammys earlier this month.

Boone is next scheduled to perform at Rolling Stone‘s Future of Music Showcase at SXSW, presented by JBL, in Austin on March 11. Megan Moroney, Ivan Cornejo, and Rema are also scheduled to headline the four-day event. He’ll also play at Coachella in April.
