Becky G made a bold statement against ICE at this year’s 2026 MusiCares Person of the Year benefit gala.
While walking the red carpet at the star-studded event on Friday (Jan. 30) at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the 28-year-old Mexican-American singer raised her hands for the cameras, revealing freshly painted nails that spelled out “F—k ICE” as she posed with a kissy face.
Becky G attended the 35th annual MusiCares Person of the Year gala, which honored Mariah Carey. The event took place two nights before the 68th annual Grammy Awards.
This isn’t the first time the Latin star has spoken out against the Trump administration. In 2015, she released the song “We Are Mexico” in response to then-Republican presidential nominee remarks about Latinos and Mexican immigrants.
“Hard work, double time, overtime, two jobs, working till our heads hurt, but we ain’t never late to pay the bills,” she sings on the track.
“We Are Mexico” debuted just days after Trump said Mexican immigrants were drug dealers, criminals, and rapists at the start of his campaign in 2015.
Becky G joins a host of other musicians who have spoken out amid ICE’s recent immigration enforcement operations in Minnesota, where agents shot and killed Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
Following their deaths, artists including Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Olivia Rodrigo, Lizzo, Ice-T, Pusha T, Dave Matthews and Duran Duran spoke out against ICE, while Minneapolis residents mourned the victims and protested the agency’s presence in the city.
Mayor Jacob Frey called for federal agents to leave, saying, “This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying, getting killed.”
