Beatles Biopics Reveal Fab Four Casting, 2028 Release Date

A ‘Binge-able’ Experience

Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, Barry Keoghan, and Harris Dickinson will star in the Sam Mendes-directed films

The starring cast for the highly anticipated Beatles films helmed by director Sam Mendes was revealed in Las Vegas on Monday.

When speaking at CinemaCon, Mendes announced that all four biopics will be released in April 2028, and paired the ambitious news by bringing out the cast for the Fab Four on stage. Set to feature in the films’ starring roles are Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. Each Beatle will be the subject of their own solo films, which will tell the story of the legendary band from each member’s point of view.

Officially titled The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, Mendes touted that each installment in the multi-part biopic will be the “first binge-able theatrical experience,” adding, “Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, all four actors recited lyrics from 1967’s “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” before taking a very bow reminiscent of the band at the height of Beatlemania.

“I’m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” Mendes previously shared in a statement. The director — whose previous work include American Beauty, Revolutionary Road, Skyfall, and more — will be the first to have full access to both the life stories of each member and the band’s music rights for a scripted film. The biopics will be released with Sony Pictures, with Mendes set to direct and produce all four films alongside Neal Street Productions’ Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor.
