Barbra Streisand, Paul McCartney Join Forces for ‘My Valentine’ Duet

The song will appear on Streisand’s forthcoming album, The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two

Barbra Streisand enlisted Paul McCartney for a duet of his 2011 song “My Valentine.” The intimate track comes off her forthcoming LP, The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two, a collaborative effort that will also feature duets with Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Sting, Hozier, Laufey, Sam Smith, Tim McGraw, Josh Groban, Seal, and Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande.

Streisand teased the song earlier this week, writing on Instagram, “What a joy it was to record ‘My Valentine’ with @paulmccartney. To share time with him in the studio was truly special!”

Streisand will release The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two on June 27. She previously previewed the LP with “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” featuring Hozier. The album was produced by Walter Afanasieff and Peter Asher, and recorded at the Streisand Scoring Stage in Culver City, California, and at Abbey Road Studios in London with the London Symphony Orchestra.

“I’ve always loved singing duets with gifted artists,” Streisand said in a statement. “They inspire me in unique and different ways … and make our time in the studio a joy! My new album gave me the chance to work and play with some of my old friends, label mates, and new artists too. I admire all of them … and I hope that you’ll enjoy listening to our collaborations as much as I enjoyed recording with all of my wonderful partners.”

McCartney released “My Valentine” in 2011 ahead of his 2012 solo album Kisses on the Bottom. It was one of two original compositions on the standards album. McCartney self-directed multiple music videos for the track, including one with Natalie Portman and Johnny Depp.
