Barbra Streisand added a dozen collaborations to her catalog earlier this year with the release of The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two. The album followed her 2014 duets project Partners and paired the veteran musician and actress with everyone from Hozier, Sam Smith, and Bob Dylan to Laufey, Sting, and Paul McCartney. In a recent Instagram post, Streisand sung her praises for one of those big names: Ariana Grande, who appeared alongside Mariah Carey on The Secret of Life deep cut “One Heart, One Voice.”
“Ariana is a young woman with an amazing talent. She has a beautiful voice like no one else, and so much more,” Streisand wrote.
She also shared a photo she took with Grande years ago, when the pop star’s signature look was an oversized hoodie, winged eyeliner, and an unmistakable ponytail. It was from 2019, during the Thank U, Next era, when Grande made a surprise appearance at Streisand’s concert at the United Center in Chicago. The duo performed “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough),” the 1979 hit originally recorded as a duet between Streisand and Donna Summer.
“She can act, she can dance, she can be funny! She’s also sweet, kind and thoughtful. I’m very proud of you Ariana and thanks for singing with me on my album,” Streisand continued. “P.S. you were wonderful on Saturday Night Live and looked so pretty.” (Grande’s hosting gig this past weekend doubled as promo for Wicked: For Good, in which she closed the chapter on her dream role as Glinda.)

“Barbra !!!!!!!! What !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this kindest surprise today! You made my day, my year, my life,” Grande commented beneath Streisand’s post. “This means so much, coming from you. I just love you so. I miss you and I hope I get to hug you soon… all my love and appreciation. Thank you.”
Streisand’s career trajectory seems like an apt blueprint for Grande as she explores the expanse between film, music, and theatre. And there’s a chance the two could soon appear alongside each other in next year’s Focker-in-Law, the fourth film in the Meet the Parents franchise. Grande is set to star in the new movie, which is slated for release in November 2026. There’s been no official word on whether Streisand will appear, but she did have a prominent role as Rosalind “Roz” Focker in the second and third films in the series, Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers.
