Bad Bunny’s ‘DtMF’ Breaks Record Set by ‘Despacito’ for Most Weeks at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs

Bad Bunny sets a historic milestone as “DtMF” adds a 57th week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart (dated May 2). This feat sets a new record for the longest command in the chart’s nearly 40-year history, surpassing the 56-week reign of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber.

“Despacito” transformed the Latin music landscape, setting a new standard when the Bieber-assisted remix propelled the song to an unprecedented 56-week reign atop the Hot Latin Songs chart between 2017 and 2018. Its record-breaking run not only set the benchmark for longevity on the multi-metric chart, which debuted in 1986 as an airplay ranking, but also marked a pivotal moment for Latin music’s global influence.

“DtMF” breaks the No. 1 record on Hot Latin Songs despite dips across all metrics. In the tracking week of April 17-23, the track generated 5% less official streams in the United States than the prior week, amounting to 8.5 million, according to Luminate. Thus, it drops 29-36 on the overall Streaming Songs chart but remains strong at No. 1 on Latin Streaming Songs for a 42nd week.

In terms of sales, although “DtMF” dropped by 2%, with less than 1,000 downloads, it holds strong at No. 1 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart for a 17th week.

As “DtMF” sets a new record at No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs, let’s revisit the tracks which have spent at least 26 weeks atop the list, since the chart debuted in 1986. Notably, Bad Bunny (and Enrique Iglesias) secures two spots among the all-time leaders:
