Bad Bunny and His Mexico City Fans ‘Set the Bar High’ in First Night of Eight-Show Run

Bad Bunny celebrated the start of his eight-show series at the GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City on Wednesday (Dec. 10) with a message of Latin pride and a challenge to the attendees: to make the final stop of his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour in 2025 an unforgettable experience. The Puerto Rican superstar urged them to “set the bar high” for the remaining seven nights at the iconic venue.

“You are the last city I’ll visit this year, and that wasn’t by chance, it was planned. We have to close the year in Mexico!” the singer shouted excitedly, unleashing the roar of the 65,000 people (according to promoter Ocesa) who packed the stadium. “And I know you guys won’t disappoint. First night out of eight, you have to set the bar high for the following nights.”

His local fans — along with many others from 77 countries, per Ocesa — didn’t let him down during the over two-hour show, dancing and singing along to his setlist, which included the hard-hitting reggaetón track “Chambea,” added exclusively for Mexico, he said.

Throughout the night, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (his real name) interacted with the audience, delivering a message of unity between Puerto Rico and Mexico.

“If there’s one thing Puerto Rico and Mexico have in common, it’s how proud we are of our culture and land,” he said to a wave of applause. “This show is about you, about us. It’s about the union of Puerto Rico and Mexico and Latin America, about forgetting everything else going on outside and enjoying this moment that won’t come again.”

For eight nights, Mexico City becomes the world’s capital of perreo as it hosts the artist who dominates the Billboard year-end Latin and global charts. The series of shows is expected to generate an economic impact of over $177 million, driven by ticket sales, food and beverage consumption, and hotel occupancy near the stadium, according to the National Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism of the capital.

El Sapo Concho, the mascot from the album Debí Tirar Más Fotos, also made an appearance during the concert. In a video, the frog — endemic to the Caribbean island and a symbol of resilience — shared that the first thing they did upon arriving in Mexico was try the local food, including tacos and pozole. They also visited the Zócalo and admitted that when it comes to spiciness, “Mexicans are No. 1.”

“La Casita,” a space on stage where Bad Bunny shares moments with friends and celebrities, also gained attention. There, the singer invited a young Mexican fan — who had gifted him a mask of the Mexican wrestler Místico earlier that night — to join him as a guest, and shout the phrase “Acho, PR es otra cosa,” an expression of Puerto Rican pride that’s part of the tour.

On the night before the concert (Dec. 9), Bad Bunny made waves on social media, when images leaked of him attending a lucha libre match at Arena México while wearing Místico’s mask. The Consejo Mexicano de Lucha Libre later confirmed this on their social media platforms.

During the Dec. 10 show, Bad Bunny thanked the Mexican people for their love and support with the classic shout, “¡Viva México cab–nes!” before performing “Mónaco.” By this point, “La Casita” had already featured hits like “Tití Me Preguntó,” “Neverita,” “Voy a Llevarte Pa PR,” “Me Porto Bonito” and “Yo Perreo Sola,” following a segment on the main stage dedicated to his celebrated album Debí Tirar Más Fotos.

“It’s been many years of coming here. Thank you to those who believed in me before the world did,” he added. “I’m always grateful for the love the Mexican people have shown me. I represent you too, all Latinos.”

Bad Bunny will perform his second concert of the tour at the GNP Seguros Stadium on Thursday (Dec. 11), with the rest of the shows scheduled for Dec. 12, 15, 16, 19, 20, and 21 — all of them sold out.

The Puerto Rican artist is set to become the third performer with the most shows at the legendary stadium formerly known as Foro Sol, trailing only Colombian superstar Shakira, who holds the record with 12 dates, and Grupo Firme with nine concerts completed.

The Debí Tirar Más Fotos World tour began on Nov. 21 in the Dominican Republic and has also visited Costa Rica. In 2026, it will continue in Chile, Peru, Argentina, and Brazil before heading to Asia and Europe. For a complete list of dates, click here.
