The song will appear on the Japanese kawaii metal band’s fifth studio album ‘Metal Forth’, which is due to arrive on June 13 via Capitol Records (pre-order/pre-save here).

Speaking about their thunderous, post-hardcore new track, the group described ‘From Me To U’ as “a kawaii metal song [that] was born from a collaboration between BABYMETAL and Poppy”.

They added: “Check out Poppy’s shouts and BABYMETAL’s dance in the Neo Tokyo setting! Kawaii is sprinkled throughout the intense sound! Kimi ni todoke!”

Poppy explained: “I have been a fan of BABYMETAL for years and I am so happy for this song to finally be here! They have inspired me so much, enjoy ‘From Me To U’!”

The single is accompanied by a high-concept official video, starring Poppy. It also sees BABYMETAL unleash their signature choreography among “a futuristic world teetering on the edge of destruction”.

Towards the end of the visuals, Poppy makes an explosive transformation into a dragon – emerging amongst the surrounding fire and carnage, as BABYMETAL dance their way through the disaster. Tune in above.

‘Metal Forth’ will also contain team-ups with the likes of Spiritbox, Tom Morello, Bloodywood, Polyphia and Slaughter To Prevail. The forthcoming album follows on from 2023’s ‘The Other One’.

BABYMETAL are scheduled to embark on a UK and European tour in May, kicking off at Brussels’ Forest National arena. The trek will conclude with a huge show at London’s O2 on May 30. Poppy will be joining them on the tour, as will Bambie Thug. Find any remaining tickets here (UK) and here (Europe).

The band are then set to head out on a North American tour with support from Black Veil Brides, Jinjer and Bloodywood. Find any remaining tickets here.

Last summer saw BABYMETAL play a main stage slot at Download Festival 2024. Speaking to NME backstage, the group said they didn’t want to deviate too far from their roots at their forthcoming shows.

“You know what? We haven’t changed at all,” explained Su-Metal, looking back at the band’s evolution, 10 years after their debut studio album.

“We have always been BABYMETAL, the way we are, and we still have a long way to go. [Being here now is] all thanks to everyone who supported us, whether it’s our fans, the media, staff, or even other bands we’ve met before.”

In 2024, Poppy teamed up with Knocked Loose on the collaborative track ‘Suffocate’. The song was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the Grammys 2025, but ultimately lost out to Gojira‘s ‘Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça ira!)’.

The tracklist for BABYMETAL’s ‘Metal Forth’ is:

  1. ‘From Me To U’ (feat. Poppy)
  2. ‘Ratatata’ (feat. Electric Callboy)
  3. ‘Song 3’ (feat. Slaughter To Prevail)
