Babyface gets cut off abruptly during Grammys red carpet interview for Chappell Roan

Footage of 13-time Grammy winner Babyface getting abruptly cut off during a red carpet interview on the Grammys red carpet has gone viral – check it out below.

During the red carpet event, Babyface, who has won numerous Grammys for his performance and production work, was speaking to two reporters from Associated Press (AP) as Chappell Roan walked by them.

Though mid-answer, Babyface was swiftly cut off as the interviewers called out for Chappell. Babyface appeared stunned, but approached the incident diplomatically, telling the reporters: “You guys wanna do that? Go do that.”

The interviews offer him a quick apology before turning their attention to Chappell Roan, who would go on to be crowned Best New Artist later during the ceremony. Watch footage of the awkward interview below.

Per The Independent, the two interviewers have reportedly “apologised” on air following the interview with Chappell Roan and were sorry for “disrespecting” Babyface.

Social media has been reacting to the incident, calling out AP and the two interviewers for their “rude” management and behaviour, and pointing out that Babyface was a multi-Grammy-winning act who deserved his time.

One X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, “Disrespecting THEE Babyface while interviewing him is absolutely insane,” while another added: “hey @AP you need to have a serious conversation with your employees. cutting off the musical icon who is babyface and taking his mic abruptly while he was speaking to talk to chappell roan is so incredibly disrespectful and rude. especially during black history month.”

In other Grammy news, Chappell Roan made her debut on the Grammys stage, performing ‘Pink Pony Club’ before winning Best New Artist – you can check out the full list of winners here.
