Ariana Grande Tells Fans She’ll Wear ‘Cozy Footwear’ On Stage After Minor Foot Injury

The pop star has just two show remaining on her headlining Eternal Sunshine tour

Ariana Grande will take the stage in London tonight in comfortable footwear rather than her signature heels after sustaining a minor injury.

The star shared the update with fans on social media ahead of her Eternal Sunshine tour’s final two shows at O2 Arena (Aug. 31 and Sept. 1). “My sweet petals,” Grande began in her note posted to Instagram Stories. “I wanted to let you know I will need to be in cozy footwear for this evening’s show (and possibly tomorrow’s) as I am bandaged up underneath, recovering from a minor injury.”

Grande assured fans that it wasn’t a sprain or a muscular injury, but a “deep cut.” The singer-songwriter asked fans not to “fret” when they see her without her usual heels or if they she puts weight on her injured foot during the performance. She added, “on with the show and i am on the mend!”

The star said that she “cannot wait” to perform the next two shows, quipping that she might be “a few inches shorter than usual.”

Following the conclusion of her tour, Grande plans to “step back” from public life. The singer-actress will no longer appear in a London West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park With George, which would have reunited Grande with her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey; it was also revealed that Grande would not be appearing in the upcoming season of American Horror Story as previously announced, which was due to conflicts with her Eternal Sunshine tour and the show’s production schedule.

After Grande announced plans to scale back her public engagements, rumors about her well-being swirled. The artist spoke to fans directly to address the speculation earlier this month during her stop at the United Center in Chicago. “I heard that my fans were worried that negativity was ruining things for me, but I just have to say that could not be more the far opposite. This is not what that is,” she told the crowd. “And I just want to be very, very clear, multiple things can be true at the same time: boundaries need to be set, human beings can need a break sometimes and also, this can be and will continue to be the greatest experience of my professional and creative life.”
