While on the red carpet at the 2025 Academy Awards, where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Wicked but lost out to Zoe Saldaña, Grande was asked by Variety about where she is with the album’s deluxe version and when it is expected to be out.

A newer, deluxe version is not to be confused with the ‘Slightly Deluxe’ edition of the record that arrived in March last year. That consisted of four additional tracks that weren’t on the standard issue of the album, and included a Troye Sivan feature.

“It must come out,” she answered, before then claiming that she had her memory erased. “They did the Brighter Days memory erasure treatment to me, so I’m having trouble remembering the details, they’re foggy.”

Grande was then asked if it would be released “soon”, but then claimed soon was a word she is “not allowed” to use. “Soon means ten days or less,” she said. “I’m not allowed to use this word, at the moment. I’m not going to use that word today, I’ll say that.”

The singer also made it clear that she had no immediate plans to go on tour again. “I feel so grateful to the acting, and I think my fans know that music and being on stage will always be a part of my life, but I don’t see it coming anytime soon,” she said.

“I think the next few years, hopefully we’ll be exploring different forms of art, and I think acting is feeling like home right now.”

Earlier this year at the Golden Globes, Grande revealed the first hints at an extension of the album by confirming that “an attachment” to her 2024 record ‘Eternal Sunshine’ “does exist”.

In a four-star review of ‘Eternal Sunshine’, Nick Levine wrote for NME: “On the one hand, ‘Eternal Sunshine’ is a spacey but relatable break-up album defined by its emotional maturity. “We both know I couldn’t change you – I guess you could say the same,” she sings on the title track. On the other, it’s the most sophisticated project yet from a preternaturally talented vocalist who keeps getting better. Whatever you take away from it, ‘Eternal Sunshine’ definitely isn’t an album you’ll want to wipe from memory.”

In other Ariana Grande and Oscars 2025-related news, the singer and her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo opened the 2025 Oscars with a medley. Grande kicked off the performance by singing the Wizard of Oz classic ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’, with Erivo taking on Diana Ross’ ‘Home’ from The Wiz.
