Ariana Grande pulls out of ‘American Horror Story’ role due to tour commitments

Ariana Grande has pulled out of the new season of American Horror Story due to touring commitments.

The singer and actress joined the cast of the upcoming 13th run of the anthology show last year, though it is now being reported that production dates for the show were moved to a point where they conflicted with her current ’Eternal Sunshine’ tour – though she hadn’t shot any scenes (via Deadline).

Grande’s tour, her first since 2019, began last month, and is currently playing stops in North America before hitting the UK for a 10-night residency at London’s O2 next month and into September. Find any remaining tickets here.

The star was set to join American Horror Story alongside regulars such as Emma Roberts, Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Billie Lourd, Evan Peters, Leslie Grossman and Gabourey Sidibe.

Her involvement was confirmed at the time by Ryan Murphy Productions in a post accompanied by Vera Lynn’s ‘I’ll Be Seeing You’.

While concrete details on the content of the next season remain under wraps, the return of many regulars has led to fan speculation that it could be linked to the story of a previous season.

Grande has been focusing on her acting career in recent years, appearing in the Wicked films and Don’t Look Up, and has roles to come in comedy sequel Focker-In-Law with Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro, an adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ Oh, The Places You’ll Go!, and Sunday In The Park With George with Jonathan Bailey on the London stage.

Last year, the star assured fans she wasn’t “abandoning” music, telling fans on Instagram: “It is and always has been my lifeline. There will need to be room made for all of it.”

Later this month, Grande will be releasing her new album ‘Petal’, and recently shared the full tracklist for the LP.

The star also recently launched the Brighter Days Ahead Foundation, which is aimed to support the LGBTQ+ community, including mental health services.

In other news, Grande has hit out at the White House for using her music in an ICE video, calling it “barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense”.
