The project accompanying an extended edition of her album Eternal Sunshine will arrive on March 28
As Ariana Grande launched into the Wicked promotional cycle last year, her fans worried that Glinda would keep the musician away from her pop star duties. She released her seventh studio album Eternal Sunshine one year ago, but made no explicit plans for touring and kept promotions to a minimum. But as she prepares to release an extended version of the album, Eternal Sunshine: Better Days Ahead, Grande is providing that her recent Hollywood side quest is actually in service of the music, too.
On March 28, when the deluxe edition arrives, it will be accompanied by a short film of the same title. Grande previewed the release with a short teaser trailer on Instagram. “Welcome back, Peaches,” a robotic voice says, greeting the character we first met in the music video for Eternal Sunshine single “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).” We don’t see Grande as Peaches in the brief clip. Instead, the camera focuses on a marble zooming towards its lens.
Created with director Christian Breslauer, the short film continues unraveling Peaches’ narrative. When we last saw her, she had the memories of a past relationship wiped away at Brighter Days Inc., in reference to he 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The accompanying film poster features Grande levitating with rubble scattered on the ground beneath her.

“You know, there’s something I made last year that will come out eventually,” Grande said at the Golden Globes earlier this year. “It’s an attachment of Eternal Sunshine. So, that does exist, and that will be coming out at some point. But no, I’m not in the studio at the moment.”
Grande initially extended Eternal Sunshine just days after the album arrived. The (Slightly Deluxe) version tacked on new versions of “Yes, And?” and “Supernatural” with Mariah Carey and Troye Sivan, respectively. It also included an acoustic version of “Imperfect For You” and an a capella recording of “True Story.”
