During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night (December 3), the star, who was promoting her new film Nightbitch, was told that Swifties have been campaigning for her to play Tree Paine on screen due to her red hair.
“Uh, that would be amazing. That would be so fun,” she said. “If it got me closer to Taylor, then…”
Adams then shared that she recently became a “Swiftie at 50” after seeing a recent show on the Eras Tour. “I’m like a shifty, 50, Swiftie,” she joked. “And I’m like, isn’t that nifty? And my daughter is going, ‘Oh, I hate this for you.’”
Adams went on to say that she “always liked her (Swift’s) music and appreciated her,” but after attending the Eras Tour she “suddenly went from like, normal, to like, ‘I’ll take all the friendship bracelets!’ I was like, who am I?”
She also revealed that she actually met Swift once before at a party after an awards show where they sang karaoke together to 4 Non Blondes’ ‘What’s Up?’
“I may have sang it a little loud and I’m sure everybody was like, ‘Amy, shut up! We want to hear Taylor sing,’” Adams recalled. “I had a blast. And now in reflection, if I were to do it now I would be so different. I sang really loud over Taylor Swift, and probably not great either.”
Elsewhere, Swift recently shared her reaction to ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ achieving the most streamed album of 2024 on Apple Music.
Adams, meanwhile, recently starred in the horror comedy Nightbitch, which is released in the UK and US cinemas this Friday (December 6).
Reviewing the film, NME awarded it three stars and described it as a “dog’s life for Amy Adams in mediocre horror comedy.”
It added: “For a film called Nightbitch, it lacks the bark and bite necessary to become top dog.”
