Amelia Moore waits by the phone with exclusive ‘While You Wait For Him To Call’ playlist to accompany The Cover

NME’s latest star of The Cover, Amelia Moore, has put together an exclusive playlist to accompany the story’s launch – check it out below.

The Los Angeles-based pop/R&B artist is on this week’s (May 5) edition of The Cover, a manifestation of NME’s commitment to supporting emerging talent across the globe on a weekly basis. Every week, a rising artist will feature on The Cover – you can read Amelia Moore’s profile here, written by Kayleigh Watson and featuring photography by Aubree Estrella.

Moore has put together a playlist of songs to listen to ‘while you wait for him to call’, featuring the likes of Magdalena Bay, Charli XCX, Lorde, Frank Ocean and more. Listen to the full playlist on Spotify below and on Apple Music.

After first making a mark with her 2022 EP ‘Teaching A Robot To Love’, Amelia Moore scored a wider breakout moment with her set at last year’s Camp Flog Gnaw – the festival founded by Tyler, The Creator. Given the event’s prestige, she scaled up her performance, enlisting back-up dancers and guest artists. “There are thousands of people at this festival who have no idea who I am,” she says. “So, it was my main goal for that entire set to get everybody passing to fall in love with me.” Five months later, her approach has clearly worked. As she tells NME now, “Things are moving, honey.”

This Friday, Moore will release her latest EP, ‘He’s Still Just Not That Into You!’, a continuation of last year’s ‘He’s Just Not That Into You!’. The series takes inspiration from the 2009 self-help book-turned-rom-com, which starred Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck and Drew Barrymore.

“When we’re young, we’re told that if a boy’s mean to you, that means he has a crush on you, which has totally fucked up our mindset when it comes to dating,” says Moore. “So that whole movie, a lightbulb went off in my brain and I was like, ‘This is the vibe of the entire project’.”
