Addison Rae Says She Related to Lana Del Rey’s Perfectionism While Opening for Her

“It’s really nice to see someone who’s constantly wanting everything to be perfect for everyone to enjoy,” Rae said on Apple Music

Addison Rae is still reveling in the joy of opening for one of her favorite artists. In a live interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music on Monday, Rae gushed about her experience playing at Lana Del Rey’s Wembley shows in early July, and how she related to Del Rey’s perfectionism.

“It was so fun. Lana is one of the greatest artists of our generation, honestly, of our lifetime,” Rae said. “I think she’s so just incredible, and so kind, and sweet, and so helpful and open.”

She added, “She’s such a perfectionist, which is so inspiring to watch, because I’m a perfectionist as well, and she never lets that go away. It’s really nice to see someone who’s constantly wanting everything to be perfect for everyone to enjoy.”

Along with playing before Del Rey in London and performing songs from her debut album Addison, Rae also joined her onstage for a duet rendition of “Diet Pepsi” during both nights of the tour stop.

On her album, Rae also shouted out Del Rey on “Money Is Everything” with the lyric, “Wanna roll one with Lana, get high with Gaga.” Rae is set to go on a sold-out headlining tour later this month, kicking it off in Ireland, before coming to the United States starting in late September.

“I’ve been having a lot of fun. I’m excited. I’m nervous,” she said about preparing for her tour. “It’s gonna be so wild. I got a nice little taste of it a few times with doing the Box shows and then obviously I got to open up for Lana, so that was really fun. This is such a different experience because it’ll be everyone coming to listen to just my album and a few other songs.”
