“As our world faces rising temperatures, growing inequality, and deepening uncertainty, this year’s Global Citizen Festival is an opportunity to push for real, lasting change,” said chief music and entertainment officer Katie Hill in a statement. “We’re excited to unite 60,000 global citizens on the Great Lawn of Central Park — together with some of the world’s biggest artists and advocates — to demand action. See you on September 27th!”

This year’s event will once again focus on encouraging attendees and supporters to take millions of actions to join in the effort to end extreme poverty. According to the release, the one-day festival “will bring together the world’s biggest artists, grassroots advocates, government leaders, philanthropists and music fans to call on world leaders to drive action on the most urgent issues facing humanity and our planet, including: protecting the Amazon rainforest, ensuring children everywhere have access to education, and upscaling renewables across Africa.”

The lineup of artists and presenters will be announced in the upcoming months, with fans eligible to earn free tickets by taking action on the Global Citizen app or here. For the first time this year Global Citizen has also teamed up with Colossal in a search for “America’s Next Top Hitmaker,” with musicians, bands and group from across the U.S. competing in the months before the show for a chance to perform at this year’s Global Citizen; click here for more information.

Last year’s event featured sets from Post Malone, Doja Cat, Jelly Roll and Rauw Alejandro.
