Paris Paloma Evokes Feminist History With ‘Labour’ Performance on ‘Colbert’

The single comes off her debut LP, Cacophony, which dropped last year

Paris Paloma made her U.S. TV debut on The Late Show to perform her recent single “Labour” alongside the Resistance Revival Chorus.

To showcase the anthemic song, which reflects on women’s rights, Paloma recreated iconic feminist art installation The Dinner Party, with choreography that paid homage to the history of the movement.

“Labour,” released last year, urges female empowerment as Paloma sings, “All day, every day, therapist, mother, maid/ Nymph then virgin, nurse then a servant/ Just an appendage, live to attend him/ So that he never lifts a finger/ 24/7 baby machine/ So he can live out his picket fence dreams/ It’s not an act of love if you make her/ You make me do too much labour.”

Paloma released her debut LP, Cacophony, in 2024. “Labour” has since taken off on social media, soundtracking thousands of TikTok videos, including campaign videos by KamalaHQ in support of reproductive freedoms.

The English singer is currently on the road in the support of the album, with upcoming tour dates across North America through the end of March. She will head back to Europe for shows in Manchester, London, Dublin, and Amsterdam in June.
