The Ting Tings announce new album ‘Home’ with ‘70s-inspired single ‘Good People Do Bad Things’

The Ting Tings have announced details of a new album called ‘Home’. Check out the details below, as well as the lead single ‘Good People Do Bad Things’.

Announced today (February 28), the upcoming record will mark their first new LP in six years, following on from ‘The Black Light’ which was released in 2018, and the re-imagined ‘Manchester Version’ that arrived the following year.

Set for release on June 6, the duo – comprised of Jules De Martino & Katie White – have taken inspiration from the sun-kissed West Coast of the ‘70s for the sound. This includes nods to the era in the harmonies and arrangements, as well as moments reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, Dire Straits, Joni Mitchell and Eagles.

The first teaser of the track arrives today, in the form of the lead single ‘Good People Do Bad Things’. It sees the group explore themes of guilt, forgiveness and making peace with the darkness we all have in ourselves. Check it out below.

As for the album as a whole, the tracklist is set to capture the same charm and characteristics of the lead single, which has an underlying sense of assurance to it.

“Having continuously moved around during album cycles from the UK to Los Angeles to Berlin, De Martino and White found Ibiza as their home and have now lived there for many years,” reads a new description.

“After having their daughter during the pandemic, they sought succour in the foundational musical touchstones of their childhoods. As a band that has always self-written and produced they walked into their home studio, and asked themselves a simple question? In this new world of profound uncertainty, what felt good? The resulting songs are on the new album, ‘Home’.

You can pre-order the record here, and check out the tracklisting below.

The ‘Home’ tracklist is:

‘Good People Do Bad Things’
‘Dreaming’
‘Home’
‘Goodbye Song’
‘Winning’
‘In My Hand’
‘Dance On The Wire’
‘Song For Meadow’
‘Mind Thunder’
‘Down’

The indie-pop duo first hit top spot on the UK charts with their debut hit, ‘That’s Not My Name’. Upon its release in 2008, the song went viral and has sold over one million copies to date.

Back in 2022, the song went viral once more – this time on TikTok after it became the soundtrack to videos by the likes of The Rock, Drew Barrymore and others.

Although their last album arrived over six years ago, the duo did drop a one-off single last spring called ‘Dance On The Wire’, which saw them lean into a country sound.
