Sublime Will Play DC Warped Tour 30 Years After Headlining First Edition

Band joins 3OH!3, Of Mice and Men, and Avril Lavigne for the June lineup

Sublime is coming to Vans Warped Tour DC, 30 years after headlining its first edition. On Monday, the band — which reunited last year with Bradley Nowell’s son Jakob — announced that they’ll be performing at the Washington, DC edition of the festival in June.

Sublime and Warped Tour announced that the “Santeria” band is joining the lineup by sharing a throwback Kevin Lyman interview about the band being banned for a week from the first tour after Sublime’s dog kept biting people and the group’s friends were being unruly on the road.

“I had to send them home for a week… I had two rules for Sublime: No dogs, no friends,” the festival’s founder says in the old clip.

Warped Tour has been slowly unveiling some of the names of the performers scheduled for the event after announcing preliminary lineups for June’s fest in DC, July’s edition in Long Beach, and November’s event in Orlando.

The unorthodox approach to lineup announcements aligns with Warped Tour’s mission to highlight smaller, up-and-coming artists. Musicians such as All Time Low, Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan, Of Mice and Men, the Suicide Machines, the Maine, Girlfriends, Mod Son, 3OH!3, and Gideon are scheduled for the DC edition.

Rolling Stone announced the return of the music festival back in October. “People start remembering once something’s gone that it was important, it was fun — and I’m hoping to recapture a lot of that again,” Lyman told Rolling Stone at the time.
