Shakira has postponed an upcoming concert in Medellín, Colombia due to stage safety concerns.
The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ hitmaker was due to play at Estadio Atanasio Girardot tomorrow (February 24) as part of her ongoing ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ tour. However, the show has been postponed after event organisers raised concerns about a damaged roof.
It’s the latest in a series of complications on the tour, coming shortly after the ‘Soltera’ singer was forced to reschedule another date in Lima, Peru, last weekend. She was hospitalised with an abdominal condition, and took to social media to share that she was “sad to not be able to take the stage”.
Likewise, yesterday (February 22) she also took to X/Twitter to address the newly postponed show. “My people from Medellín! It hurts me a lot not to be able to get on stage and sing for you as much as I wanted to.”

She continued: “My children were excited to get to know Medellín, and I was excited to meet you again and share all the surprises I had prepared for them. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, especially for those who have travelled. It’s out of my hands and those of my production team, but I’m sure we’ll soon find a new date to celebrate together.”
Concert promoter Páramo Presenta said not only would the performance be rescheduled, but that they were working with Shakira’s team on “new concerts for Colombia in the second half of this year, news that will be celebrated by more than one city in the country.”
Explaining the decision to ultimately cancel Monday’s concert, Páramo Presenta said the damage to the roof “puts at risk the safety of the artist, her staff and, most importantly, that of the audience”. Fans can find out more about ticket refunds here.
This is Shakira’s first tour in seven years and comes in support of her 2024 album ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’, for which she recently won Best Latin Pop Album at the Grammys. The tour boasts elaborate production and 160’ screens, with a first-of-its-kind CGI animated version of the singer appearing during the interludes.
Her next scheduled date is on Friday (February 21) in Colombia’s Barranquilla, with further shows to come in Medellin, Bogota, Santiago, Buenos Aires, Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City, winding up on March 30.
Later in the spring, she will embark on the North American leg of the tour. In October, she had to postpone the original run of dates so she could upgrade them from arenas to stadiums due to demand.
In a four-star review of the ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ album, NME wrote: “With a career that spans four decades, she continues to push the envelope for Latin pop music and make the genre a global event. All her previous records had at least one song in English, but this time, she opts to sing fully in Spanish. With this vulnerable yet versatile collection, Shakira shows there are no limits to the art of her catharsis through song.”
More recently, Shakira dedicated her fourth Grammy win to her “immigrant brothers and sisters”, saying: “You’re loved, you’re worth it, and I will always fight with you,” she stated. “To all of those women who work really hard everyday to provide for their families, you are the true she-wolfs.”
