“When three ruthless bullies trap Vixi in a virtual-reality nightmare, her friends dive headfirst into the digital battleground,” reads a synopsis of the comic
Lisa is getting the comic book treatment, the Blackpink star announced on Tuesday. She’s set to launch comics company Lalisa Comics and release Alter-Ego: The Official Comic, a supplement to her debut album out on Feb. 28.
The comic version of Alter-Ego will be a limited-edition, 56-page book inspired by the record and with art by Minomiyabi. The comic book is available to pre-order for $19.99 on Lisa’s website.
“Inside all of us an alter ego, or several, fights for their turn in the spotlight. Now Lisa is ready for you to meet every part of her from the deliciously sweet to the devilish,” it says on her site.
The comic’s alter-egos include Kiki, a cotton-candy-haired “arcade champion with an unyielding spirit”; Speedi, a red-headed “fearless risk-taker learning to slow down”; Roxi, a “pressured social star yearning for genuine connection”; Sunni, a softer, “gentle peacekeeper concealing her inner storms”; and Vixi, “a quiet tech genius.”
The comic book storyline is set in a “neon-drenched cyberpunk city” featuring the five friends, written by Lisa. “When three ruthless bullies trap Vixi in a virtual reality nightmare, her friends dive headfirst into the digital battleground, proving that while Vixi may work alone, she never has to fight alone,” per a synopsis of the comic.
Brandon Montclare wrote the dialogue, Josh Frankel edited it, and Derick Jones designed the backgrounds. Lisa’s debut album will drop on Feb. 28 and feature 12 tracks, including “Rockstar,” New Woman” with Rosalía, and “Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me).” She also recently released “Born Again” with Doja Cat and Raye.
