During Kendrick Lamar’s history-making performance, the rapper was joined by a 400-strong cast of dancers and models. Towards the end of the performance, the majority of the cast were seen all across the field in the New Orleans Superdome as Kendrick rapped along to ‘TV Off’ with DJ-producer Mustard.

The vast majority of the cast donned all-black attires. At the end of the performance, one of the dancers unfurled the Palestinian flag with the words “Sudan” and “Gaza” written on it. He then jumped off the stage and ran across the field, waving the flag around.

The unidentified man was chased down by security before finally being tackled to the ground and escorted off the field. You can check out the incident below.

In a statement to the NBC, a spokesperson for the NFL commented on the situation: “We commend security for quickly detaining the individual who displayed the flag. He was a part of the 400-member field cast. The individual hid the item on his possession and unveiled it late in the show. No one involved with the production was aware of the individual’s intent.”

It is currently unclear what consequences the dancer will face for the stunt.

The act comes after a ceasefire was called between Israel and Palestine earlier this year. The decades-long conflict was brought to the forefront of mainstream attention in late October, with a legion of musicians calling for ceasefire.

During his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, Kendrick Lamar was joined by the likes of SZA, Serena Williams and Samuel L. Jackson and performed several cuts off his latest album, followed by ‘Not Like Us’, before which poked fun at Drake for suing Universal Music Group for promoting the song.

Hinting at ‘Not Like Us’, which was only played for a mere second, Kendrick quipped during the performance: “I want to play their favourite song but you know they like to sue”. He would later go on to deliver a proper performance of the song.

Kendrick’s Super Bowl performance comes after a massive week for the rapper, who last week won five awards at the Grammys 2025, including Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year for his Drake diss song ‘Not Like Us’.

Kendrick Lamar surprise-released his sixth and latest album, ‘GNX’, last November. The album scored a glowing five-star review, while ‘Not Like Us’ was crowned NME‘s second Best Song of 2024.
