Last month, a slew of musicians were announced to perform for the G*ve A F*ck concert in Los Angeles on February 5 at the Hollywood Palladium to raise funds that would go towards organisations aiding in the recovery of LA following the devastating wildfires in January.

At the concert, Hayley Williams performed two acoustic songs: a cover of Failure’s ‘Daylight’ and Björk‘s ‘All Is Full of Love’. To make the performances even more special, she was joined by her longtime musical hero and Failure frontman Ken Andrews.

Together, the two first performed Failure’s 1996 classic ‘Daylight’ to raucous applause. For the song, both of them played acoustic guitar and sang. Prior to the performance, the Paramore frontwoman said: “I want to introduce you to someone really special and super important to me, actually. This is Ken Andrews from a band called Failure. Failure was me and Zac [Farro] and Taylor [York]’s favourite band. Failure was the band that made me really want to be in a band and play guitar.”

“When I was thinking of what to do at this show, I was very nervous at the prospect at what to do alone. I was listening to Failure last week and I was like ‘Why the fuck wouldn’t I do one of these songs?’ Thank you for indulging me because I’m going to be playing two songs that I really fucking love.”

Next, Williams put her guitar aside to announce that they would be playing a song by her “lord and saviour” Björk, adding: “That’s who I pray to now”.

Check out the performance below.

Hayley Williams has been a vocal fan of both Failure and Björk in the past. In 2022, she starred in a trailer for a Failure documentary. Several times over the COVID-19 pandemic, Williams uploaded covers of herself singing Failure and Björk songs.

Failure’s Ken Andrews worked on Paramore’s self-titled fourth studio album, which came out in 2013. The band also covered Failure’s ‘Stuck On You’ for their 2006 EP ‘The Summer Tic’.

In other news, late last December, Hayley Williams teased the possibility of a string of solo shows in 2025, five years after she had originally planned them. The singer’s first solo studio album ‘Petals For Armor’ was released in May 2020 and Williams had intended to play the record live on a UK and European tour that month, before plans had to be shelved amid the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She has since released her second solo record ‘Flowers For Vases / Descansos’ in 2021, but has yet to play a sustained run on solo shows to support either release.
